Automation, Analytics, and Self-Service for Enterprise Cloud

  • Tintri’s web services architecture enhances delivery of automation, analytics, and self-service.
  • Operations at the VM, vDisk, and container level greatly simplify automation and self-service.
  • Analytics provide immediately actionable data for troubleshooting while streamlining management and planning.

Real-time and Predictive Analytics

You need to know what’s happening inside your cloud, but statistics on a LUN containing tens or hundreds of VMs are of dubious value when it comes to planning and troubleshooting.

Tintri provides real-time analytics at the VM and container level that let you see exactly what’s going on, find performance problems, and resolve issues quickly. Tintri Analytics offers predictive capabilities that show you exactly what your runway is, so you can plan for storage capacity and performance needs accurately. Sophisticated analytics based on modern, in-memory database technology save you time on data center planning while increasing resource utilization and efficiency.

Superior Self-Service

The advantages that VM and container awareness bring to automation and analytics also extend to self-service. Because Tintri storage is easy to automate, it’s simple to incorporate Tintri’s storage into any self-service framework including OpenStack. The advanced capabilities of Tintri storage, such as snapshot, replication, cloning, and more, can be easily incorporated in self-service portals, providing services at per-VM and per-container granularity.

Self-service is so simple on Tintri that Tintri ChatOps allows you to talk to your storage directly using Slack and similar services. The power of this natural language approach is demonstrated in the following video which shows how you can use ChatOps to provision VMs and respond to alerts.

Tintri Enterprise Cloud

Public cloud offers the agility to start quickly, spin up workloads, and shorten development cycles. But some workloads must still reside in your data center to ensure compliance and predictable costs without sacrificing agility. With enhanced automation, analytics, and self-service, Tintri enterprise cloud platform is able to deliver the best of both worlds.

Tintri is the only storage designed with the same building block architecture as AWS and Azure. You can automate key actions, do cross-infrastructure analysis, and enable self-service to speed your business.

Throughout the year, we’ll be bringing you more in-depth information on these and other Tintri enterprise cloud features.

Your enterprise can’t afford to lose control of critical applications—you need predictable performance and cost. That’s why Tintri delivers the agility of public cloud for on-premises infrastructure. In previous posts, we described how Tintri defines enterprise cloud and explained why a web services architecture is key to realizing cloud benefits. This time I want to explain how Tintri’s approach enhances our ability to deliver automation, analytics, and self-service—essential elements of any cloud. Because Tintri’s enterprise cloud platform is designed to operate directly on VMs, vDisks, and containers, it is able to do things that other storage cannot.

Greatly Simplified Automation

Tintri provides REST APIs for all functions and services to make it possible to incorporate Tintri storage as part of any automation framework you want to use. Specific integrations on top of our APIs make it simpler to automate Tintri storage using popular tools:

As important as these integrations are, it’s the ability to work at the right level of abstraction that really differentiates Tintri automation. Other storage vendors operate primarily at the LUN level. Tintri lets you automate everything at the VM, vDisk, or container level, taking the complexity out of automation processes. The following figure illustrates the difference:
