MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., August 14, 2017 – Tintri, Inc. (NASDAQ: TNTR) today announced that Purely Cloud is using the Tintri Enterprise Cloud platform to guarantee performance for its clients’ enterprise applications while reducing their management effort. Tintri’s ability to spin up new environments and to scale fluidly has helped Purely Cloud to win deals against other cloud service providers and public cloud alternatives.
Based in San Diego, Calif., with clients worldwide, Purely Cloud provides highly available, redundant cloud designs that deliver adaptive performance for mainstream business applications, including virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), SQL Server, Microsoft SharePoint, Exchange and Dynamics ERP.
Purely Cloud’s previous storage system did not scale easily with the company’s rapid growth and a lack of visibility made it difficult to manage and identify customer issues with latency.
“Our previous solution worked fine when we only had a few clients,” said Purely Cloud President and CEO Christopher Wing. “But as we started to grow very quickly, we needed a more powerful solution that could deliver predictably fast performance for all of our clients’ enterprise applications. We also needed greater visibility into our storage to know if any latency a customer might experience was due to the storage systems, or another aspect of the infrastructure.”
After evaluating options from Pure Storage and HPE, Purely Cloud chose the Tintri Enterprise Cloud Platform for its high performance, comprehensive visibility and management simplicity. After installing the Tintri solution, Purely Cloud experienced significant performance gains and greater agility that have allowed them to offer differentiated services to customers.
“We regularly go up against many of the big public cloud providers, including Azure, AWS and Google Compute,” said Wing. “Tintri’s performance and visibility has helped us win many deals against them. There is a night and day performance difference in side-by-side comparisons of identical environments running on Tintri and other platforms. And when customers see Tintri’s analytics, they recognize the power of virtual machine and container level operation. For workloads that are mission-critical, Tintri can’t be beat.”
Tintri’s dashboard provides a single pane-of-glass that vastly improves and simplifies management and troubleshooting. The enhanced visibility provided by the dashboard shows exactly where issues occur to reduce support times and improve service levels.
The Tintri platform is also easier to support because it owns the entire storage layer, unlike Purely Cloud’s previous solution that required coordination with multiple vendors, HBAs, disk enclosures and servers. And Tintri’s APIs allow integration with Purely Cloud’s enterprise cloud ecosystem, so workflows can be automated across elements.
Moving to Tintri has enabled Purely Cloud to expand its service offerings, increase its customer base and compete more effectively against larger cloud providers. The company is planning to create a Tintri Disaster Recovery as-a-service offering (DRaaS).
“Moving to Tintri has enabled us to expand our service offerings—including plans to add a new Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) offering—and increase our customer base,” said Wing. “We would’ve had a much more difficult time competing against larger providers if we hadn’t moved to Tintri.”
