Central Washington Hospital Overcomes Storage Performance Bottlenecks with Tintri

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – October 30, 2012 – Tintri, Inc., the leading producer of purpose-built, VM-aware storage platforms today announced that Central Washington Hospital has successfully deployed Tintri to support over 150 server VMs running mission-critical applications. Tintri’s VM-aware architecture and intuitive management console drastically streamlined performance troubleshooting and enabled Central Washington Hospital to overcome performance issues that had previously plagued its virtualized applications.

Previously, Central Washington Hospital relied on an iSCSI block storage system to support its virtual environment. As they increased the number of VMs in their deployment, though, they quickly ran into a number of performance problems that hindered mission-critical applications – including their nurse call system. Central Washington Hospital resolved to find a modern solution capable of ensuring reliable, fast performance for their virtual environment. Tintri was chosen primarily for its ability to deliver the performance needed, as well as its VM-level visibility for performance troubleshooting and its fast, non-disruptive upgrades that eliminate downtime. Additionally, Central Washington Hospital was able to easily support a VDI pilot project on the same storage system, with ample space left over.

“Our existing storage solution was getting old and we wanted to replace it with a high performance, flash-based storage system,” said David Scirratt, IT Infrastructure Manager at Central Washington Hospital. “We wanted to find a solution that could support both VDI and server workloads without degrading performance and affect the end-user experience since we’re a 24×7 operation. Tintri has lived up to our expectations and then some; we’re extremely happy with them so far and look forward to expanding our VDI project with them in the future.”

“Central Washington Hospital is one of a growing number of healthcare organizations that have recently selected Tintri,” said Geoff Stedman, Tintri Vice President of Marketing. “We’re finding that our VM-aware approach – which makes for easier troubleshooting and minimal downtime – is particularly well-received by organizations that need to ensure reliable performance for critical applications.”
